After Shoah 4 Film DVD Collection
Brand new and sealed. A significant four film documentary collection from Claude Lanzmann, preserving testimony, memory and difficult questions surrounding the Holocaust and its lasting historical consequences.
This copy comes from my dad's personal collection. Dad was an actor and scriptwriter with a genuine love of cinema, history and films capable of preserving important human stories. His collection remains an important part of Kate's Treasures15, with each title now looking for a new home where it can continue to be appreciated.
Directed by Claude Lanzmann, After Shoah brings together four documentaries developed from interviews and historical material connected with his landmark work on Holocaust testimony. Each film focuses on a particular witness, event or moral question, preserving voices essential to understanding the Holocaust and its aftermath.
A Visitor from the Living examines the testimony of Maurice Rossel following his wartime visit to Theresienstadt, while Sobibór, October 14, 1943, 4 P.M. recounts the prisoner uprising at Sobibór through survivor Yehuda Lerner.
The Karski Report presents further testimony from Jan Karski, who attempted to alert Allied leaders to the destruction of European Jewry. The Last of the Unjust centres on Benjamin Murmelstein, the final Jewish elder of Theresienstadt, confronting questions of survival, responsibility and moral compromise under Nazi persecution.
Together, the four films form a deeply serious documentary collection concerned with witness, remembrance and the responsibility to preserve historical truth.
An important sealed Eureka collection for documentary viewers, students, historians and anyone approaching Holocaust testimony and historical memory with serious intent.
