This copy comes from my dad's personal collection. Dad was an actor and scriptwriter with a genuine love of cinema, unforgettable performances and directors with a distinctive creative vision. His collection remains an important part of Kate's Treasures15, with each title now looking for a new home where it can continue to be appreciated.

Directed by Stanley Kubrick and based on the novel by Anthony Burgess, A Clockwork Orange follows Alex DeLarge, played by Malcolm McDowell, a charismatic and deeply violent young man living within a disturbing vision of the near future.

After his crimes bring him into contact with an experimental programme intended to remove his capacity for violence, the film begins asking increasingly uncomfortable questions about punishment, state control and whether morality has meaning when an individual is no longer free to choose.

Kubrick combines striking imagery, classical music, dark satire and psychological intensity to create a film that deliberately challenges its audience rather than offering easy answers. Malcolm McDowell is joined by Patrick Magee, Michael Bates and Adrienne Corri.
