A Short Film About Killing (1988) DVD | Krzysztof Kieslowski | Artificial Eye | Region 2
A brutal, essential Kieslowski film that forces you to face questions of justice and punishment with no easy answers. Powerful, uncompromising Polish cinema for mature audiences.
Some items on Kate's Treasures15 are chosen because they are beautiful or useful. Some are here because they meant something to my dad. He was an actor, a scriptwriter, and a serious collector of films and books that had something to say. This is one of those pieces.
This film is difficult because it refuses to let you keep a safe distance. It makes you sit with violence, consequence, and the moral machinery that follows, and it asks what society becomes when it answers killing with killing. It is not comfortable, but it is important.
If you like cinema that is philosophical, morally challenging, and artistically fearless, this is a serious collector title for anyone building a Polish cinema shelf with real depth.
