Beauty and the Beast 2017 Blu-ray

Emma Watson and Dan Stevens star in Disney's live-action musical fantasy about an enchanted castle, a powerful curse and learning to look beyond first appearances.

From Dad's Collection

This copy comes from my dad's personal collection. Dad was an actor and scriptwriter with a genuine love of world cinema, independent film and memorable performances. His collection remains an important part of Kate's Treasures15, with each title now looking for a new home where it can continue to be appreciated.

Directed by Bill Condon, Beauty and the Beast stars Emma Watson as Belle, an intelligent and independent young woman who dreams of a life beyond the expectations of her village.

When her father Maurice is imprisoned inside an enchanted castle, Belle offers to take his place. She soon discovers that her captor is a prince transformed into a Beast by a curse, while the castle's servants have been changed into household objects.

The curse can only be broken if the Beast learns to love another person and earns their love in return before the final petal falls from an enchanted rose.

Dan Stevens brings vulnerability to the Beast, while Luke Evans plays Gaston, whose charm hides an increasingly controlling and dangerous side.

The cast also includes Kevin Kline, Josh Gad, Emma Thompson, Ian McKellen and Ewan McGregor, with songs from the animated classic alongside additional musical material.

A lavish Disney musical fantasy with memorable songs, detailed production design and a story centred on kindness, courage and seeing beyond appearances.

Arya's Approval

Belle enters an enchanted castle and somehow ends up responsible for improving the Beast's manners and emotional communication. That is a lot of unpaid work, but there is an excellent library and several singing household objects, so matters improve considerably.
