Dad was an actor and scriptwriter who understood how familiar stories could be given new life through performance, design and a fresh interpretation of characters audiences already loved. His collection reflected a lifelong appreciation for imaginative filmmaking, memorable music and stories with emotional warmth beneath their spectacle.

Directed by Bill Condon, Beauty and the Beast stars Emma Watson as Belle, an intelligent and independent young woman who dreams of a life beyond the expectations of her provincial village.

When her father Maurice becomes imprisoned inside an enchanted castle, Belle offers to take his place. She soon discovers that her captor is a prince transformed into a Beast by a powerful curse, while the castle’s servants have been changed into household objects.

The curse can only be broken if the Beast learns to love another person and earns their love in return before the final petal falls from an enchanted rose. Yet his anger, isolation and fear have made genuine connection almost impossible.

Dan Stevens brings vulnerability and restraint to the Beast, while Emma Watson presents Belle as compassionate without surrendering her independence. Their relationship develops gradually as mistrust gives way to understanding and both characters begin looking beyond their first impressions.

Luke Evans plays Gaston, whose charm conceals entitlement and cruelty, while Kevin Kline, Josh Gad, Emma Thompson, Ian McKellen, Ewan McGregor and Stanley Tucci complete the cast.

The film combines songs from Disney’s animated classic with additional musical material, elaborate costumes and detailed production design that gives the enchanted castle a grand yet intimate atmosphere.

A lovely addition for collectors of Disney cinema, musical fantasy and beautifully presented stories about kindness, acceptance and learning to see beyond appearances.

Right darlings... Belle enters an enchanted castle, finds an extremely temperamental Beast and somehow becomes responsible for improving both his manners and his emotional communication. That is an enormous amount of unpaid work. Fortunately, there are singing household objects, an excellent library and enough dramatic ballroom lighting to make the whole arrangement worthwhile.
