Body Heat DVD

William Hurt and Kathleen Turner star in a sultry neo-noir thriller where desire, deception and murder become dangerously intertwined beneath the heat of a Florida summer.

From Dad's Collection

This copy comes from my dad's personal collection. Dad was an actor and scriptwriter with a genuine love of world cinema, independent film and memorable performances. His collection remains an important part of Kate's Treasures15, with each title now looking for a new home where it can continue to be appreciated.

Written and directed by Lawrence Kasdan, Body Heat stars William Hurt as Ned Racine, a Florida lawyer whose judgement begins to unravel after he meets the confident and apparently unhappily married Matty Walker.

Played by Kathleen Turner in her film debut, Matty quickly draws Ned into an intense affair. When her wealthy husband appears to stand between them and the life they want, attraction begins to turn into conspiracy.

Convinced that his legal knowledge will allow him to stay ahead of suspicion, Ned helps construct what seems to be a carefully planned crime. Small inconsistencies soon begin to appear, leaving him increasingly unsure of who is really in control.

Richard Crenna, Ted Danson and Mickey Rourke add further depth to a story driven by hidden motives, shifting loyalties and the dangerous belief that desire can outweigh common sense.

A stylish neo-noir thriller built around manipulation, obsession and two central performances that keep the balance of power constantly shifting.

Arya's Approval

Ned meets one mysterious woman and almost immediately abandons every sensible decision available to him. Matty remains far too calm while the plan becomes increasingly suspicious. I would have started asking questions much earlier.
