Some items on Kate's Treasures15 are chosen because they are beautiful or useful. Some are here because they meant something to my dad. He was an actor, a scriptwriter, and a serious collector of films and books that had something to say. This is one of those pieces.

This is one of those films that knows exactly what it is. Fast-paced, slightly chaotic, and built for entertainment rather than restraint. It leans into the darker side of fairy tales and runs with it.

There is a rough edge to it that works in its favour. It does not slow down, and it does not try to be anything other than a full-on action fantasy.

If you enjoy reworked classics with a bit more bite and a lot more action, this is an easy one to reach for.
