This copy comes from my dad's personal collection. Dad was an actor and scriptwriter with a genuine love of world cinema, independent film and memorable performances. Directed by Luis Mandoki, Innocent Voices (Voces Inocentes) is inspired by the childhood experiences of screenwriter Óscar Torres during the Salvadoran Civil War. The story follows a young boy living under the constant threat of forced military recruitment as violence moves ever closer to his family and community.

Starring Carlos Padilla and Leonor Varela, the film focuses on the impact of war on childhood, family life and ordinary moments of normality, creating a deeply affecting portrait of fear, resilience and hope.
