Right darlings, this is absolutely brilliant! John Carter represents everything spectacular about Disney's approach to epic sci-fi adventure filmmaking - and let me tell you, watching Taylor Kitsch leap around on Mars with superhuman strength makes me jealous because the highest I can jump is onto Kate's bed, and that's only when I'm particularly motivated by the promise of belly rubs! This film creates such an incredible alien world that I find myself tilting my head at the strange creatures, which is my universal sign of either confusion or intense interest.

What makes this adventure so captivating is how it combines classic storytelling with absolutely stunning visual effects - it's like when I discover a new route through the garden that leads to the same favourite digging spot, except with much more spectacular scenery and significantly fewer muddy paws! Willem Dafoe and Bryan Cranston bring such wonderful voice work and performances that even I stop my dramatic floor-stretching routine to pay attention, which is quite remarkable considering my usual priorities.
