Live and Let Die Special 007 Edition DVD
Roger Moore makes his first appearance as James Bond in a fast-moving 007 adventure involving murder, organised crime, secret identities and one extremely eventful investigation.
This copy comes from my dad's personal collection. Dad was an actor and scriptwriter with a genuine love of world cinema, independent film and memorable performances. His collection remains an important part of Kate's Treasures15, with each title now looking for a new home where it can continue to be appreciated.
Directed by Guy Hamilton, Live and Let Die introduces Roger Moore as James Bond. When three British agents are killed while investigating separate locations, Bond is sent to discover what connects their deaths.
His investigation leads to Dr Kananga, ruler of the fictional Caribbean island of San Monique, and his criminal identity as Harlem drug lord Mr Big. Kananga has an ambitious plan involving the American heroin market and the destruction of his competition.
Bond also encounters Solitaire, played by Jane Seymour, a tarot reader whose apparent ability to predict the future plays an important part in Kananga's operation. Yaphet Kotto brings considerable presence to the dual role of Kananga and Mr Big.
Roger Moore gives Bond a lighter, more relaxed style while the film delivers the elaborate chases, dangerous villains and large-scale action expected from the series.
A memorable Bond adventure marking the beginning of Roger Moore's run as 007, complete with one of the series' best-known theme songs and a spectacular speedboat chase.
