This copy comes from my dad's personal collection. Dad was an actor and scriptwriter with a genuine love of world cinema, independent film and memorable performances. His collection remains an important part of Kate's Treasures15, with each title now looking for a new home where it can continue to be appreciated.
Directed by Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones, Monty Python and the Holy Grail follows King Arthur, played by Graham Chapman, as he travels across medieval Britain attempting to recruit knights for his Round Table.
After receiving instructions to search for the Holy Grail, Arthur and his knights set out on a quest filled with obstacles that become increasingly ridiculous, from the stubborn Black Knight to hostile French soldiers and the unforgettable Knights Who Say Ni.
The Monty Python team mix medieval parody, surreal sketches, visual jokes and deliberately chaotic storytelling, turning familiar legends into a succession of scenes that have become part of British comedy history.
John Cleese, Eric Idle, Michael Palin, Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones appear in numerous roles throughout, switching characters, accents and levels of competence with impressive confidence.
A wonderfully ridiculous British comedy packed with memorable characters, endlessly quoted scenes and the sort of logic that only Monty Python could make seem completely reasonable.
