Alan Bennett's Talking Heads Complete Collection DVD

A remarkable collection of Alan Bennett's acclaimed BBC monologues, featuring some of Britain's finest performers in beautifully observed stories of humour, loneliness and the hidden truths within ordinary lives.

From Dad's Collection

This copy comes from my dad's personal collection. Dad was an actor and scriptwriter with a genuine love of character, dialogue and performances capable of holding an audience through the strength of the writing alone. His collection remains an important part of Kate's Treasures15, with each title now looking for a new home where it can continue to be appreciated.

Written by Alan Bennett, Talking Heads brings together twelve celebrated monologues originally created for BBC television. Each drama places one character before the audience, gradually revealing private disappointments, misunderstandings and carefully concealed truths beneath an apparently ordinary life.

The collection features an exceptional cast including Patricia Routledge, Julie Walters, Maggie Smith, Thora Hird, Stephanie Cole, Eileen Atkins, Penelope Wilton and David Haig.

Without spectacle or unnecessary distraction, the dramas rely on language, observation and performance. Some are sharply funny, others quietly devastating, but each demonstrates Bennett's ability to uncover remarkable emotional depth within apparently everyday situations.

An essential collection for admirers of Alan Bennett, classic BBC television and outstanding British performances built around beautifully crafted writing.
