This copy comes from my dad's personal collection. Dad was an actor and scriptwriter with a genuine love of world cinema, independent film and memorable performances. Directed by Vittorio De Sica, The Bicycle Thieves follows a struggling father in post-war Rome whose bicycle is stolen just as he begins a job that depends on it. With his young son beside him, he searches the city while hope, pride and desperation begin to collide.
