The Corporation 2-Disc Special Edition DVD

An investigative documentary examining the power, behaviour and influence of modern corporations through interviews, archive material and contrasting perspectives.

From Dad's Collection

This copy comes from my dad's personal collection. Dad was an actor and scriptwriter with a genuine love of world cinema, independent film and memorable performances. His collection remains an important part of Kate's Treasures15, with each title now looking for a new home where it can continue to be appreciated.

Directed by Mark Achbar and Jennifer Abbott, and drawing on the work of legal scholar Joel Bakan, The Corporation examines the development of the modern corporation and the legal structures surrounding corporate power.

The documentary looks at advertising, labour, environmental responsibility, privatisation and political influence, asking how commercial incentives can shape corporate decision making and who carries responsibility when those decisions have wider consequences.

Interviewees and contributors include Naomi Klein, Noam Chomsky, Michael Moore and Howard Zinn, alongside academics, campaigners and business figures offering different perspectives on capitalism, accountability and reform.

Rather than focusing on a single company, the film examines the broader systems, legal obligations and incentives surrounding corporate behaviour, using interviews and case studies to develop its argument.

A substantial documentary for viewers interested in corporate history, economics, social issues and investigative filmmaking.

A documentary with plenty to argue about and even more to think about. It looks at how corporations operate, who influences the decisions and who deals with the consequences when things go wrong.
