This copy comes from my dad's personal collection. Dad was an actor and scriptwriter with a genuine love of world cinema, independent film and memorable performances. His collection remains an important part of Kate's Treasures15, with each title now looking for a new home where it can continue to be appreciated.

Directed by Ken Russell, The Devils is inspired by historical events surrounding the possession trials in seventeenth-century France, centring on Father Grandier and the political and religious forces determined to destroy him.

Starring Oliver Reed and Vanessa Redgrave, the film combines striking production design, intense performances and deliberately confrontational imagery to explore faith, political power, manipulation, persecution and mass hysteria.
