The Four Feathers DVD
A classic British Technicolor adventure starring John Clements, Ralph Richardson and June Duprez in a story of courage, reputation and redemption.
This copy comes from my dad's personal collection. Dad was an actor and scriptwriter with a genuine love of world cinema, independent film and memorable performances. His collection remains an important part of Kate's Treasures15, with each title now looking for a new home where it can continue to be appreciated.
Directed by Zoltan Korda and adapted from the novel by A. E. W. Mason, The Four Feathers follows British Army officer Harry Faversham, played by John Clements, whose decision to resign his commission leaves him branded a coward.
Three fellow officers send Harry white feathers as symbols of cowardice, while a fourth comes from his fiancée Ethne. Determined to prove that fear has not defined him, Harry travels to the Sudan in disguise and sets out to help the men who condemned him.
Ralph Richardson appears as Captain John Durrance, with June Duprez as Ethne. Their performances give the film emotional weight beneath its sweeping desert landscapes and large-scale action.
Filmed in early Technicolor, the production combines historical adventure with a character-led story about judgement, loyalty and the lengths someone will go to rebuild a damaged reputation.
A classic British adventure remembered for its vivid Technicolor photography, strong performances and enduring story of courage and redemption.
