The Hustler DVD

Brand new and sealed. Paul Newman gives one of his defining performances in this gripping classic drama about ambition, rivalry, pride and the personal cost of needing to win.

From Dad's Collection

This copy comes from my dad's personal collection. Dad was an actor and scriptwriter with a genuine love of cinema, memorable performances and character driven storytelling. His collection remains an important part of Kate's Treasures15, with each title now looking for a new home where it can continue to be appreciated.

Directed by Robert Rossen, The Hustler stars Paul Newman as Eddie Felson, a gifted but self destructive pool player determined to prove himself against legendary champion Minnesota Fats, played with quiet authority by Jackie Gleason.

Eddie has the ability to win, but pride, impatience and his need for recognition repeatedly work against him. His ambitions become even more dangerous when he falls under the influence of ruthless manager Bert Gordon, played by George C. Scott.

What begins as a story about competitive pool develops into a much deeper character study of ego, manipulation, relationships and the difference between talent and the strength needed to survive success.

An excellent sealed Special Edition for admirers of Paul Newman, Jackie Gleason and classic American character drama.

Arya's Approval

Sharp, intense and brilliantly performed, a classic character drama where ambition and pride matter just as much as what happens around the pool table.
