The Limey DVD

A lean and intelligent revenge thriller starring Terence Stamp as an English criminal searching for the truth about his daughter's death in Los Angeles.

From Dad's Collection

This copy comes from my dad's personal collection. Dad was an actor and scriptwriter with a genuine love of world cinema, independent film and memorable performances. His collection remains an important part of Kate's Treasures15, with each title now looking for a new home where it can continue to be appreciated.

Directed by Steven Soderbergh, The Limey stars Terence Stamp as Wilson, a hardened English criminal who travels to Los Angeles after the death of his estranged daughter.

Refusing to accept the official explanation, Wilson begins tracing the people connected to her final months. His search leads him towards wealthy music producer Terry Valentine, played by Peter Fonda, and a trail of half-truths, evasions and damaged relationships.

Soderbergh tells the story through fractured editing, repeated dialogue and shifts between memory and the present, while footage from Poor Cow gives Wilson's past an unusual presence within the film.

Beneath the revenge story is a quieter film about grief, regret and a father confronting what he failed to understand while his daughter was alive.

A sharp crime thriller carried by Terence Stamp's performance and Steven Soderbergh's distinctive approach to memory, time and loss.

Arya's Approval
Terence Stamp barely needs to raise his voice to make the whole film feel tense. The fractured editing asks you to pay attention, but that is exactly why it works. Beneath all the revenge is a story about grief and regret.
