This copy comes from my dad's personal collection. Dad was an actor and scriptwriter with a genuine love of world cinema, independent film and memorable performances. His collection remains an important part of Kate's Treasures15, with each title now looking for a new home where it can continue to be appreciated.

Directed by Carl Theodor Dreyer, Vampyr follows an occult-obsessed traveller who arrives in a remote village and becomes drawn into a mysterious struggle involving an ailing young woman, a sinister presence and forces that seem to exist somewhere between reality and nightmare.

Starring Julian West and Sybille Schmitz, the film creates unease through drifting shadows, disorientating perspectives and haunting imagery rather than conventional shocks, resulting in a supernatural horror story that feels almost like a waking dream.
