This copy comes from my dad's personal collection. Dad was an actor and scriptwriter with a genuine love of world cinema, independent film and memorable performances. His collection remains an important part of Kate's Treasures15, with each title now looking for a new home where it can continue to be appreciated.

Directed by Krzysztof Kieślowski, The Scar follows Stefan Bednarz, a government official placed in charge of building a large industrial complex in a small Polish town. What begins as a project intended to bring employment and progress quickly creates tension between local residents, political authorities and those responsible for carrying out the plans.

Starring Franciszek Pieczka and Mariusz Dmochowski, the film explores responsibility, political pressure and moral compromise as Bednarz becomes increasingly caught between official demands and his own conscience.

A fascinating addition for collectors of Krzysztof Kieślowski films, Polish cinema, Artificial Eye releases and thoughtful European drama.
